From bike rides to trail hikes all long the mountain tops around Aspen, Colorado - the heart rocks find me. If I can jump off my bike to pick one up and am able to get back on and keep climbing, I protect it, store it in my jersey and wash it when I get back home. All my rocks are found at the top of the mountains in and around Aspen, Colorado.

I was inspired to take a watercolor class at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, in the summer of 2021. It was called “Beauty in Nature”. I said, “yep, that’s the class for me”. And then, I click the instructor, it was Jan Heaton - a person and watercolorist that I’ve admired for years and worked alongside 20 years earlier. Her class inspired this project to come to life. The water color paper used is Fabriano 300# cold press.

As a designer I see how things come together. I take in account all the details. What is the right size, how to source the paper and utilize all of its materials, how to display it, how to package it and how to ship it - in an economic and efficient way so that you can enjoy one art piece or many as a collection. Earth’s most opposite elements, water and rock are brought together to capture a feeling that only you know in an 8x8 frame.
